The team at MechaSpin has been working in the field of automation, robotics and computer control of machinery for well over a decade. Starting their careers in today's cutting edge fields of Unmanned Systems, Robotics, Automation and Self-Driving Cars, our team has developed the skills necessary to bring the sensors, algorithms and technologies from these fields to bear on your problem.

Danny Kent, PhD – President
Danny has over 15 years of experience in the Robotics and Autonomous System industry. His career has had a diverse path as he has developed expertise in distributed software architectures, software standardization, software design & development, user interfaces, human Factors and many other topics relevant to today's emerging automation markets. Over the past 5 years he has focused on leading MechaSpin's sister company, OpenJAUS, a technology company that develops software for the US Military's Unmanned Ground Systems market. OpenJAUS is now the clear market leader in providing solutions based on the JAUS standard to the defense industry. Danny has a passion for using today's cutting-edge technologies and sensors to improve, automate and enhance existing technologies and processes. Danny holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florida with a focus on Robotics, Dynamics and Controls. He also holds a MS in Mechanical Engineering from University of Florida and a BS in Aerospace Engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
Nicholas Johnson, PhD – Sr. Software Engineer
Nicholas has over 20 years of experience developing software and has worked on a wide range of projects. These projects have ranged from low-level products involving embedded system design and firmware development to user facing applications and implementing high-level artificial intelligence algorithms. He has worked with a myriad of sensors, actuators, and other hardware, and is knowledgeable in a wide array of programming languages. He has a passion for testing to ensure that any developed system will function as intended and stand up to the tests of time. He holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida where he worked on unmanned system development and autonomous vehicle technologies (self-driving cars). He also holds an MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Howard University.
Frederic Katz – Sr. Controls Engineer
Greensboro, North Carolina
Fred has over 15 experience in developing software and control algorithms for an array of electro-mechanical-hydraulic systems. He has worked with a myriad of sensors, actuators, and other hardware, and is knowledgeable in a wide array of programming languages. He has a passion for developing and standing up automated systems to carry out complex tasks in a safe and efficient manner. He holds M.S in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst as well as B.S in Electrical Engineering.
Tom Galluzzo, PhD – Partner
Tom has over 15 years of experience in Robotics and Autonomous Systems industry, working with IAM Robotics, Carnegie Mellon University, Harris Corporation and other industry organizations. During his career, he has developed many unmanned vehicles and robotic manipulation systems, for which he has led architectural design and systems integration. Several of Tom's robots have won in the areas of navigation, autonomy and design. He holds a PhD in Robotics from University of Florida where his research was focused on autonomous navigation. He also holds a BS in Aerospace Engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
